Why go private?

1) There are generally no long waiting lists, so you can probably start when you are ready.

2) A private practitioner can be more flexible with appointments.

3) No notes are likely to go onto your medical records.

4) There are usually no restricted number of sessions - it is up to you and your counsellor.

5) Private work usually takes place in a nicer more comfortable environment, rather than a medical setting.

6) Private practitioners often have sessions available in the evenings.

7) You should be able to contact your counsellor directly to make appointments rather than go through a third party.

8) Your private counsellor should be fully qualified to at least diploma level. Some agencies and surgeries have trainee counsellors as well as qualified ones. However, this doesn't mean a trainee will not be competent in the work they do.
