Bereavement could be described as a deep sense of loss, it creates a range of emotions that can change quickly from moment to moment.​

Most people will experience bereavement at some stage in their life, yet at the same time, no one will ever have the same experience of grief.
Bereavement can be a shattering, and isolating experience. Sometimes bereavements are more traumatic than the loss alone, which adds another dimension. Some bereavements can benefit from other forms of therapy rather than talking therapies alone.

Sometimes there are no words, or little to say

Counselling and psychotherapy can help by creating a space to explore the impact of grief, and your experience of it. Therapy can also help heal the trauma of bereavement, and break your isolation by getting close to your experience of grief.

​There are no set rules or stages of grief, it is a non-linear process with no time frame. It can be years after the loss when you feel it hits, and the sense of loss can be engulfing. For many, grief comes when you have room to deal with it, you may be feeling great when it comes.

The emotions you experience can be vast and hard, common emotions accompanying grief are:
anxiety, anger, guilt, relief, deep sadness, pain, regret, and shame.

From 2005-to 2007, I worked for a specialist bereavement & palliative care service within Trafford/Manchester NHS. Here I supported people through some of the hardest situations they would face in their lives.
