How do I work with bereavement? I provide a safe space for you to look at your experience of grief. There are no answers to grieving, it is a process and there is no right or wrong way to do it. Counselling can help support you in this process.
My counselling practice is within easy reach of Hale, Woolton, Allerton, Childwall, Garston, Speke, Childwall, Wavertree, Edge Hill and Toxteth. I work with people from outside of the Liverpool area too.
Recently I have struggled once again to see for myself if Roger's six core conditions are enough. Through finding this gem I have come to understand more of Rogers' thoughts on it.
I believe many clients drop out of therapy before it has helped or just as it is beginning to help. I believe that this quote from Rogers stating that the core conditions continue over period of time captures part f what is happening. As therapist we see our clients 'process' if we are experienced and the client is committed to therapy we can sense when a client is going end their journey with us.
I now see that sometimes clients don't stay long enough for the core conditions to have enough of an effect for them. This is why I believe that the core conditions are always necessary but not always sufficient, especially near the beginning stages of therapy.
'No other conditions are necessary. If these six conditions exist, and continue over a period of time, this is sufficient. The process of constructive personality change will follow'
'The fact that counselling is included in the NICE depression guideline means that it is supported by evidence of its effectiveness, certainly in the treatment of moderate, as opposed to severe depression. There is also a good deal of other evidence supporting the effectiveness of counselling which isn’t included in NICE guidelines. Additionally, there is evidence that not everyone with depression is helped by CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy). In IAPT services approximately 60% of clients (according to the Glover Report) have not benefited from having CBT, hence the argument for a range of therapies (including counselling) to be made available to clients'. http://www.bacphealthcare.org.uk/faq.php
