Coaching or Counselling?
So what is the difference? They probably have similar qualities
Coaching has been described as thus:
"a process that enables learning and development to occur and thus performance to improve. To be a successful a Coach requires a knowledge and understanding of process as well as the variety of styles, skills and techniques that are appropriate to the context in which the coaching takes place" Eric Parsloe, The Manager as Coach and Mentor (1999) page 8
Counselling is a supportive process, where people may get a better insight into their selves and situation. It can be a place where people learn to cope better through gaining a better understanding of their thought processes, behaviours, emotions and experiences. I help a person do this by exploring their world with them by using highly tuned skills such as empathy, and questioning styles. Chris Rudyard - Counselling For Liverpool
